People inside the illuminated Nomadic Place installation
IDEAS CITY · NEW YORK↗

Creating a space can itself become an artistic act.

In 2015, Jordi Enrich presented Nomadic Place during IDEAS CITY, a cultural programme initiated by New York’s New Museum.

Inflating and deflating the structure became part of the artistic experience. The space appeared, was inhabited and disappeared, revealing the existing architecture again.

A space in three acts.

01

Appear

The structure is inflated and a new place takes shape inside an existing building.

02

Inhabit

Participants gather in the temporary space and experience the architecture from within.

03

Disappear

When the igloo is deflated, the original room is revealed again.

Nomadic Place was presented as part of IDEAS CITY: The Invisible City, at The Aula in St. Patrick’s Old Cathedral. Inflating and deflating the igloo was part of the performance.
